Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together for about 3 minutes until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in the vanilla extract and salt, beating for another 30 seconds.
  4. Add the flour all at once and mix on low speed just until the dough comes together.
  5. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll them into balls, and place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Flatten each ball slightly.
  6. Bake for 12-14 minutes until the edges are golden and the centers look slightly underdone.
  7. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Notes

Ensure butter is at room temperature for best results. Measure flour correctly to avoid dry cookies. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
